Chris’ Jazz Cafe

Chris’ Jazz Cafe

Chris’ Jazz Cafe, an iconic jazz club in Philadelphia renowned for its rich musical history and soulful Southern-influenced cuisine, embarked on a transformative journey with PBPR in 2018. The initial challenge was to rejuvenate the brand’s online presence, including a revamped website and an enhanced social media strategy.

PBPR’s strategy began by cultivating essential connections with local jazz influencers, notably WRTI, the region’s leading jazz station. This collaborative approach led to prominent jazz artists making appearances on the station to promote their shows at Chris’ Jazz Cafe. Amid the pandemic, PBPR helped envision a pivotal fundraiser/livestream for renowned jazz guitarist Pat Martino that garnered national press attention. Chris’ Jazz Cafe also pioneered the inaugural East Coast Jazz Festival, a six-hour livestream concert in partnership with six legendary east coast jazz clubs.

Aggressive pitching to TV stations for events like Mardi Gras and the club’s 30th anniversary solidified their position in the region’s music scene. Simultaneously, PBPR facilitated the club’s online growth through elevated social media management and the design and launch of a responsive new website, all while spearheading a heartwarming fundraiser alongside the Clef Club to support Philadelphia’s treasured, historic performing arts institution.

The collaboration between Chris’ Jazz Cafe and PBPR yielded resounding success, garnering a wealth of coverage in regional, national, and international music and jazz publications. Their story resonated far and wide, earning them a coveted spot on NPR’s Jazz Night in America, front page stories in the Philadelphia Inquirer, and comprehensive coverage on every major local television network during Chris’ Mardi Gras festivities. Chef/owner Mark DeNinno became a recognizable figure, appearing on every TV station in the Philadelphia region. This impressive recognition reaffirms Chris’ Jazz Cafe’s enduring status as a world-class jazz venue, with its rich history and soulful offerings continuing to captivate audiences near and far.
