In the last two months, East Passyunk Avenue’s Noir has experienced quite the media storm! Owner Billie Motto and Executive Chef Marco DeCotiis are proud that Noir Bar and Restaurant has been acknowledged dozens of times throughout December and January for their enticing, distinctive Montreal-inspired cuisine and drink specials!
Noir, located at 1909 East Passyunk Ave., boasts a seductive interior, a friendly staff and an inspired menu, which intertwines traditional French Canadian cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. Chef,Marco DeCotiis offers patrons’ palates a chance to indulge the flavors of Montreal with exquisite dishes such as smoked brisket served with thick-cut rye, homemade mustard and pancetta-roasted Brussels sprouts. Once announced, the Philadelphia media immediately embraced this smoky, savory masterpiece; Philebrity’s Phoodie blog noted the “spoon tender” meat, which is brined for ten days, and cold smoked and roasted for one day to add a satisfyingly earthy, smoky taste.
The press seems to have really fallen in love with Chef DeCotiis’ Montreal Poutine, made with hand-cut French fries, cheddar cheese curds, Cannuli sausage and brown gravy. Mike Jerrick, of Fox’s Good Day, Philadelphia was blown away by the combination of guilty-pleasure ingredients and immediately featured it on the morning show’s “You’ve gotta try this!” segment.
Philadelphia magazine’s Foobooz noted Noir’s version of the “citywide special” called O’Canada — a Molson Canadian with a shot of Canadian Club for $5! If that wasn’t enough coverage, the area’s food and drink blogs have been buzzing about Noir’s stellar Happy Hour Tuesdays through Sundays featuring reduced drink prices and half-priced appetizers!
It seems as though Noir is taking the Philadelphia food press by storm with their one of a kind menu and aggressive approach to publicity. I have a feeling you’ll be hearing a lot more about this friendly bar and restaurant along Philadelphia’s newest Restaurant Row as they continue to satisfy guests with their delectable French Canadian cuisine!
