This week was smooth sailing through delicious food and good company! I began the week by visiting Noir on East Passyunk Avenue to photograph their newest seasonal cocktail — The Caprese Martini, which includes muddled fresh basil and chilled Absolut Vodka served up or on the rocks with house-made mozzarella, cherry tomato and green olive skewer! In addition to photographing their new cocktail, Noir also debuted a novel new special: a bucket of 13 crispy Montreal wings for $6! I snapped images of Noir’s newest delicious creations and then happily munched on my subjects! A few days after my photo shoot, Philadelphia’s City Paper Meal Ticket blog utilized my Caprese Martini photo in their story for new drinks around Philly!
Next, I ventured to Cescaphe Event Group’s newest venue, The Down Town Club, for an open house, where the Cescaphe team hosted a lavish party for the press and eager brides and grooms to experience the new space. Everyone was blown away with the transformation of the historic venue; from the updated gorgeous décor, to the delectable food, to the impeccable service– everything was absolutely perfect.
The following day Peter Breslow and I met with two marketing executives from the Philadelphia Union soccer team at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse, because the Union is utilizing the services of a Brazilian soccer star! The player, José Kléberson (or simply Kléberson), is a World Cup winning international superstar that is currently playing for the Philadelphia Union. Chima is exploring the prospect of a marketing initiative that benefits both brands.
I also experienced the final Thai New Year Collaborative Dinner at Circles Thai located in Northern Liberties! Executive Chef/owner Alex Boonphaya partnered with Chef Sean Magee from Time to create a delicious multi course Thai menu. I sat with friends, food blogger “PhillyFoodDude” and freelance reporter and renowned wine expert Brain Freedman in the bustling dining room. The evening consisted of delectable food and great conversation!
The next few days were filled with blogging, and planning for the next week! I visited Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar to discuss Executive Chef/ Owner Nick Farina’s plans to purchase a taco truck.
Peter and I also attended Harvest Seasonal Grille’s spring menu launch party! With the line to enter wrapped around the block in University City, Peter and I wove in between the hungry crowd, enjoying the delicious new menu items.
I finished the week by pitching Magpie Artisan Pie Boutique’s newest menu item – Pie Milk Shakes – to the national press! Keep your eyes peeled for coverage of this unbelievable dessert served in an adorable mason jar with a novelty straw.
In between writing, I heard news of the Boston Marathon bombings – my thoughts and prayers go out to those suffering injuries and losses from this inhumane tragedy.
Stay vigiliant, my fellow food-loving Americans!
